Hindu Relationship Wisdom
In Hindu philosophy, marriage is a sacred union that transcends lifetimes , a partnership for spiritual growth and worldly fulfillment.
The Hindu Vision of Marriage
Hindu marriage (Vivah) is one of the sixteen sanskaras (sacraments) and is considered a lifelong commitment. The couple becomes "Ardhangini" , literally "half of each other" , symbolizing complete partnership.
The seven steps (Saptapadi) taken around the sacred fire represent seven promises: nourishment, strength, prosperity, wisdom, progeny, health, and friendship. These vows form the foundation of Hindu marital life.
